I connect my firewire to my camera and then my computer and nothing happens... no notification from windows or anything. The camera is on and ive tried everything restarted computer and the whole bit. The computer just doesnt read the entry of the firewire cable and doesnt read my camera at all. Anyone know the reason h tis migh tbe happening.

Try connecting the firewire to the computer first, then to the camera, and then turn the camera to VCR mode.

If that doesn't work, make sure your drivers for the firewire card are installed and working properly. If not, go to the manufacturer's website and update the drivers.

What are you using to capture video? Can you try this out with another camera?

no I cannot try it out on another camera. I never looked into updating the drivers on both the laptops I tried it on so maybe ill go to dell and get them and see if that works ill get back to you guys tomorrow. Leave any other reasons for this problem.

thanks

maybe try a different firewire cable, or if there's more than one port onthe card, try that.

Trouble shoot one step at a time, be methodical, and try everything.

It's usually the cable.

is it a firewire PCI card, firewire directly on the motherboard, or firewire on a motherboard extra that connects to the motherboard via a cable?
