Hey,
I just got a DVX100, and it isn't clearly showing a 60i shooting frame rate. How do i get it? Is it under a scene file? or in the menu?

I'm going to politely suggest that you read the manual that came with the camera. It should be fairly obvious then.

The Scene Files are just a collection of menu settings, some are 60i, some are 24P, or 24PA. You shouldn't use a Scene File without going through the menus and noting the settings being used. You can even alter the Scene Files to create your own settings. The idea is to be able to switch quickly between different configurations.

The menu lets you select 24P, 24PAdv., 30P, or 60i.

Spend some time with the owner's manual.

I'm having a hard time understanding the need to switch quickly between the fps options, but can you provide us with an example of a situation it might be handy in?

Well one example is for a 35mm feature I was shooting this fall, the production bought a DVX100A to shoot any behind-the-scenes footage, but also so I could shoot any fake news material to be played on TV sets in scenes (the movie had scenes of the media gathering at this family home.)

The behind-the-scene stuff was shot at 24PA with a letterbox, but my fake news footage was shot a 60i in 4x3 full-frame. So whenever I borrowed the camera from the behind-the-scenes guy, I had to switch to a different Scene File.

You could also set-up the Scene Files so that the frame rate was the same, but some files had different Gamma presets than others, or Cine-Like Chroma was on or off, etc.

SCENE FILE 1 - 60I (60 FRAMES INTERLACED)
FILE 2 - FLORECENT
FILE 3 - SPARKLE
FILE 4 - BLACK STRETCH (MORE DETAIL IN BLKS)
FILE 5 - 24P
FILE 6 - ADVANCED 24P (TRICKY IN POST, HD CAN HANDLE IT)

FILE 1 AND 5 ARE THE BEST... I ONLY REALLY USE 60I FOR THE INTERVELOMETER STUFF, BUT YEA......ENJOY..
