Hey friends,
I just snatched up a DVX100 off Ebay, and to my splended suprise, it came with a 16:9 anamorphic conversion lens. Now i want to shoot with it, but i am not sure how to export the final video so that it will not squish the video on regular screens. I use Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5, is there a way to export it so that it will letterbox it on 3:4 screens, and show the whole picture on 16:9 screens? I don't want to shoot the whole thing if this is not an option for me, i don't have a lot of friends with widescreen television sets.

And also, even if i don't use the lens, which is the absolute BEST thing to export the video as, using Premiere Pro?

thanks

-Stephen

If you're burning a DVD, just output 16:9 video and set the 16:9 bit on the DVD... the DVD player will automatically letterbox on a 4:3 TV and play back full widescreen on a 16:9 TV.

If you're outputting to tape, I don't know about Premiere Pro, but in 6.0 you would just create a 4:3 project, drop your 16:9 video files into the timeline, and select 'Maintain Aspect Ratio'. When you rendered the project, Premiere would letterbox it to 4:3 for output to tape.
