This One Is Real Important for me. i got a new Hip-Hop music video project and as you know most of these type videos are With 35mm or something.

i want to shoot it with digital camera. the budget doesnt matter at all. all i need to know is that the Best camera with High speed option 80 fps and real 16:9 .

Thanx

Fred

I wouldnt be able to refer you a digital camera which can shoot higher frames but I know that if there's no sound while you shoot, as in you dont need live sound, shoot in regulat 16mm.

Get a Bolex, shoot 16 mm, then get a telecine to the digital format you want. Then letter box it, and voila widescreen. the bolex btw, only goes up to 48 fps, but you can slow it down digitaly, OR place a motor on the camera which has variable shooting speeds. Anyway, GL!

The Panasonic HVX200 shotos 60fps, and then well you can play with the Shutter speeds as well, and even with your import into your timeline in post

I also might add with the Frame Rate Hack, I also get a 2fps with a 350degree shutter. For those light streak looks.

Here are your frame rate choices. 2,3,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22,23,24,26,27,28,30, 32,34,36,38,40,42,44,46,48,50,52,54,56,58,60.

wow!

wow!

well tnx surjones
i tried to do with 60i but as you see itZ interlaced.
low quality after slow motioning. it dont even get good result after using frame blur.

i find it best to use 24 Progressive and slow-motion it with twixtor plugin on after effect !

and wut was your shutter speed when u used it on 2fps with 350 shutter degree?! and which camera?!

If the budget is not a problem, why not try the bigger HD-cams, like the Varicam etc.etc?

Could you tell me a bit more about the framerate hack conserning the HVX200?

Fred, I am assuimg you are talking about Shooting 1080i/60i. If that is the case. You are NOT shooting 60fps, you are shooting still 30, so when in post you are trying to slow 30fps.

The HVX has the abilities to shoot as high as, 60fps IN CAMERA. This must be recorded to P2, or the soon to be CInePorter. NO CAMERA has teh ability to shoot 60fps in 1080, so not to worry :) Owning an HVX is the best :)

Twixtor is an awesome Post software. Shoot 60fps with the HVX and drop in Twixtor, the RESULTS are BREATH taking.

The VariCam only has one advantage now, over the HVX. Bigger CCD's. BUTI know many directors, and they are shooting HVX as a B-Camera. And no one can tell the difference.

The way the VariCam and the HVX work is based on programing. The hack allows you to EDIT the programing and save it to an SD card, and then put the SD in the HVX and load the scene file. Pop out the SD card, and you camera is normal.

The HVX has a choice to shoot in Shutter Fractions, and Degrees (like a film camea does)

Wanna see some footage of what you can do with a 2fps at 350d?

Yes yes!
I've been meaning to chech out the twixor for a long time....

As my post say, "Wanna see some footage of what you can do with a 2fps at 350d?"
Nothing to do with Twixtor. Twixtor is an AE plugin. 2fps at 350d is what the HVX can shoot.

wow i didnt know that Hvx has shutter degrees..
last cameraS with this option was those old betacam versions with Mechanical shutter degrees but it had so much problem so they removed it from Digital cameras

and ofcourse i know 60i is 30 frame :D but u see 60 i and its interlaced .
u cant proggresive scan it . only low fielding have the good result . but low field make slo-mo so artifical thats the problem..!

how much did you but the hvx?!
i got about 9000$
i want to buy canon xl-h1
u think hvx is better?!

and send us those footage it must be intresting!

Cameras arent better or wrose than Each other, AS FAR AS mechanical goes. BUT as for codecs that is a deal breaker with me. HDV Sucks. So much so Sony and Canon are Xing it. With teh HVX you get DVCPro50 for the best SD work you'll ever see. TRUE PROGRESSIVE and Variable frame rates from 2fps-60fps. P2 technology is true and is GOLD. Work with it once and you'll never go back.

Here is a sample of 2fps with a 350d Shutter

2fps @ 350d in Vail Colorado

Nice footage. Was that shot with available light? Also, seeing that answered my question about shutter angles. I couldn't remeber if the angle told you how much was open, or how much was closed. Does the camera actually elt you dial in a shutter angle, or are you just converting a high shutter speed to the equivalent shutter angle?

thanks, Ya that was at a 1.7 aperture, and shutter was 350d, Which is shutter degrees means that 350degree is open to light. You can dial from 1degree to 350 in .5 increments.

With the HVX you can choose Fractional or Degree shutter.

!

!

that was pretty cool!

the quality and colors were awesome

and nice result i see..

wut was the Iris level?!
wut was the shutter speed?!
how did you get those smooth paning and tilting with 2fps! ?! :O

The shutter degrees in hvx is it mechanical or digital!?

No shutter speed in fraction, but in Degrees is 250degrees......Iris level again is 1.7 . .... 0 Gain. Shutter speed is the HVX, is Digital. No color correction done to the video either. And pan and tilting is just timing. I guess I am just getting good at it.
