XL2?

everyone seems to think the Canon XL2 is the best camera to get for budding filmmakers. i've looked at it, and it does seem to be great. any opinions on the camera would be helpful since i'm looking to buy it!

what makes the hdv canon xh a1 better? plus, i found an xl2 for $1099. does the xh a1 cost about that?
