Hi,
I will be shooting a project on 16mm pretty soon, And I am looking for some advise in order to achieve the photographic red-eye effect directly on camera.
I know it has been done, but I don't really know how.
The video clip "Criminal" by Fiona Apple is a perfect exemple, even if I learnt it had been done on post. But that' smore or less what we are looking to achieve.
So if you have any comments, ideas, informations, advises....
Tx

red eye is caused by the flash of a camera so i think you would have to do this in post...im sure there are many diffrent ways.

I was actually just watching the Mark Romanek DVD and in the commentary he talks about that effect. It is not done in post. It is achieved through using a single, very small, but very bright source of light very close to the camera lens. The way the red-eye effect is achieved is light bounces off the back of the eye and into the camera, and is red because of the blood vessels inside your eye. So basically, as long as both the light and the camera are facing the eye almost head on, and the light is small and directional, it should work.
