Practice Scenes for Dialog Editing
Practice Scenes for Dialog Editing
You can find practice scenes sold at:
http://users.innercite.com/dmnews/
These scenes are for practicing DIALOG editing. That means for conversations from dramatic productions like motion pictures and television dramas.
NOTE: These scenes are NOT useful if you want to learn to edit action sequences, documentaries, corporate video, event video, news, and multimedia.
Disks #01 and #02 have low quality QuickTime movie clips for the Macintosh. Disk #01 has instructions but only one scene. Disk #02 has no instructions but includes 12 scenes.
If you want higher quality scenes (DV footage) for your demo reel, try disks #03 and #04. But these have no written instructions so, if you have never edited a scene before, start with disk #01.
Good News: Occasionally, disk #01 is available on eBay for only 99 cents plus shipping. At that price, you cannot go too far wrong. The 11-animated movie on the disk is almost worth the 99 cents because it gives an overview of how dialog is edited for a television drama. Search the content for "Follow Dave" which is the name of the scene on the disk. (Or just ask.)
SPECIAL NOTE: I have heard that the new DVD-Video disk sets for Highlander, Xena, and Hercules TV series from Anchor Bay have unedited scenes but I do not know if these are conversations or action sequences. Action sequences and conversations are edited differently. If anyone has seen this footage, please post a description of the scenes.
