Need footage

I just purchased a computer and it came with Final Cut Pro installed but unfortunately it's previous owner didn't include any footage.

I am very interested in learning more about video editing but I need some footage to play around with.

I do not have a camera and don't have access to one. Are there any sites offering decent quality video downloads for free?

Anything will do I suppose.

Thanks

FCP footage

FCP footage

Quicktime files - especially the kind FCP uses, are very large and you will probably find few of any use on the internet. I would check with royalty-free video libraries to see if they have any samples of their library online.

Maybe it has changed with the recent versions, but my FCP came with a tutorial and a bunch of footage for a swing documentary. See if you can dig around in the FCP folders for it, or try and locate a manual and follow the tutorial instructions.

As a last ditch effort, you can import still images into the program and mess around with them.

Practice Scenes for Dialog Editing

Practice Scenes for Dialog Editing

You can find practice scenes sold at:

http://users.innercite.com/dmnews/

These scenes are for practicing DIALOG editing. That means for conversations from dramatic productions like motion pictures and television dramas.

NOTE: These scenes are NOT useful if you want to learn to edit action sequences, documentaries, corporate video, event video, news, and multimedia.

Disks #01 and #02 have low quality QuickTime movie clips for the Macintosh. Disk #01 has instructions but only one scene. Disk #02 has no instructions but includes 12 scenes.

If you want higher quality scenes (DV footage) for your demo reel, try disks #03 and #04. But these have no written instructions so, if you have never edited a scene before, start with disk #01.

Good News: Occasionally, disk #01 is available on eBay for only 99 cents plus shipping. At that price, you cannot go too far wrong. The 11-animated movie on the disk is almost worth the 99 cents because it gives an overview of how dialog is edited for a television drama. Search the content for "Follow Dave" which is the name of the scene on the disk. (Or just ask.)

SPECIAL NOTE: I have heard that the new DVD-Video disk sets for Highlander, Xena, and Hercules TV series from Anchor Bay have unedited scenes but I do not know if these are conversations or action sequences. Action sequences and conversations are edited differently. If anyone has seen this footage, please post a description of the scenes.
