Microphone and lens attachments

Hello all,

I own a Sony VX2000 camera and would like to get some accessories.

First, I would like to get a wide angle lens as I'm finding it rather difficult to shoot some indoor shots in small environments. However, I don't know much about lens attachments. What would a good brand/model be that is compatible with my camera?

The second thing I would like to get is a shotgun and/or condensor mic. I was thinking of buying a Beachtek DXA-4 XLR adapter (from B&H used for $110) and getting a mic to start (I plan to get a second mic later so I can have stereo sound). What would be a good brand of mic to get? Any suggestions? Or would you recomend going for a 'standard' mic that plugs directly into the 1/8" mini jack?

Idealy, since I'm a student, I'd like to pay as little as possible, but I don't want to buy crap and I've never looked at accessories before (I've just used the camera by itself to do stuff so far).

It's a little bit more than I was hoping to pay (was hoping a bit closer to $100), but I'm flexable. I noticed it does 80Hz to 18kHz, so I won't have that 20Hz rumbling bass sounds that are needed for those big action films, but I don't plan on doing anything like that (even if I wanted to, an action film would be way too big of a budget for me).
As for a pole to use it as a boom, I was thinking of just getting a golf ball retriever and hooking it up to that.

As for low end on a mic, you want it for sure! It's not the super low rumble you hear in a movie theater, but you really do want that latitude in order to be able to sweeten your sound more easily and powerfully in post. If you lack low end, it's hell trying to get the sound to be full. It's easier to remove low end to the point the sound is "full". Without it, you could easily get tinny sound with no satisfactory way to fill it in.

So any suggestions on a microphone I should be looking at then?

From what you say, I'll need a 20Hz to 20kHz sound range then? What microphones are decent, offer this range, and won't break the bank? (keep in mind I'm a college student, so not a lot of money here, and my parents don't like me spending a lot of money on film stuff because aparently I need to be able to buy food ).
