iMac

does anyone know if an imac would be good to use for editing purposes if i bought external hardrives, and upgraded the memory, and bought an additonal screen.

An imac would be okay as long as it is the new Intel core duo. The reason being it allows a second monitor to extend your desktop. Using an old imac allows you to only make an exact copy of your desktop onto another monitor as if you where doing a presentation powerpoint style.

One thing I can't stress enough get as much ram as is possible.

Personally I use the mac pro but it depends on your budget!
