Hey Jacob,

I have one more question though, I was wondering what this mechanical sound I hear when I tilt the camera up and down when in VCR or OFF mode. The sound seems to be coming from the lens/front part of the camera. Sound disappears when switched to camera mode. Is it normal?

Hope you can help me with this, Thanks again!!!

I too have heard this noise with the camera before.

I really don't know what it is... but I have a theory:

I believe that the lense is entirely power based... obvious... however, I believe that when you are not in camera mode, to save power, the camera allows the lens freedom.
Having attempted to search out the sound, it seemed to come from the lens... so I assume the lens is just in free-flow mode... so, when the camera's are off... I'm as careful with them as possible... they're either in their hard-transportation cases... or sitting flat on a table-top for importing images (when I lack a deck).

Hope this helps ease your mind.

It is completely normal. Read the manual. The sound is made by the optical image stabilizer clunking around.
