DVD camcorders

i've been told that dvd cams record videos mpeg-2 formatted and i wonder if i can edit mpeg-2 formatted videos with sony vegas 6.0 software
.and if i cant with which software i can do

I'm not exactly sure at this moment. I will have to double check a few things. I believe you can, but I want to be 100% sure before I have you try it and it not work for some reason.
