Aspect Ratio Problems

I shot a short on a DVX-100 in 16:9, but instead of it being true 16:9, it was just a 4:3 letterboxed image. When I tried to export it as 16:9 in final cut, it left the letterboxes in and stretched the entire image. Is there a way to convert letterbox into true 16:9 in final cut?

Heres one response I got for this question. "A digital zoom into the 16:9 area of the 4:3 letterboxed material would take care of it. It's highly suggested to shoot squeeze mode with the DVX over letterbox, with letter box you have to crop/zoom with squeeze it does it itself."

Did you import the footage using a 16:9 ratio? I've had this problem before and that was my problem. Frustrating at first, but int he end, you just slap yourself and ask "Why!?"
