Anyone here from Australia? Specifically, the Sydney region?

I'm a year 12 student, doing my HSC, beginning to think about courses & uni.

I most definitely want to do something with film & cinema.

I was just wondering if anyone here does/did any film courses/ went to any film colleges/unis around the Sydney region? If so, please state so. I want to look into as many options as possible.

I would like the course to have a practical and theoretical side. Theory being the study of film and film history etc, plus theoretical aspects of filmmaking as in camera operation and whatnot. And practical being: we MAKE movies.

Any recommendations?

I'm an Australian. Finished year 12 last year, and like you wanted to get into the film and television industry.

I didn't get into Uni because i didn't have a showreel to offer, as our school didn't do film and TV... So when I got an interview for the screenplay i wrote i didn't really have anything else to show...

ANYWAYS no i'm not from sydney area sorry if i got your hopes up. I'm from the Gold Coast and after I didn't get into uni i decided to go to QSFT (Queensland School of Film and Television) It's great... and now i'm not so sure uni film school was the way to go, after working on some of their productions.

If you want to know more PM me. I'd be glad to tell you more if your interested. But thats all i really have to say because I don’t know what NSW schooling is like, or any film schools in the area. But Sydney Film School looks like a good start.
