Ok Im new to FCP and im having trouble getting started with a project.

I am a DJ. I want to take music videos from DVD and replace the audio to a remix version i created. Then match up the video to the audio and fill in any gaps that i may have with the extented versions i created.

Im trying to take a music video that is on a dvd and then edit it with FCP. First off what program can i use to rip off a DVD that will provide a high quality video that can be edited in FCP. ive used handbrake which makes mp4s or avi's. FCP reads the AVI but doesnt seem to render the file...maybe to big i guess...and the mp4s are not supported and wont even open in FCP.

Please help me out. Im using a Mac Pro and FCP 5

Mac the ripper is a good program also. I've used handbrake and I haven't had a problem with it. What version of FCP are you using? FCP 5 has no trouble importing mp4s on my system. But like you said if AVIs work then rip the dvd to AVIs.
