Who specifically would you go to, to get investors and patrons to recieve BIG MONEY for your films. Also, any recommendations on specific production companies that support independent films if you go through all of the steps that (Derek Eastman described in one of his posts) I'm looking for cahs for a film I want to start extremely soon.

Thank you

As for who specifically...
well, there really isn't anone specific to go to.

Good places to look are Dentists... (the ones with sucessful practices are even better ;) )

Also, if you know any rich microsoft retiree's... or other rich people... they're good.

As for indy-friendly production studio's... well, I'm really not too sure how many they actually produce... vs how many they purchase for distribution... however... you might look up the contact info on IMDBpro for:
> Warner Independent (A Division of Warner Bros Pictures, a Time Warner Corporation)
> Focus Features (A Division of Universal Studios)
> Rogue Pictures (A Division of Focus Features)
> Fox Searchlight (A Division of 21'st Century FOX... a division of Fox News Corporation)
> Mirimax
> A Band Apart (Tarantino's)
> American Zeotrope Studios (Coppola's)

You might check them out to start... and look up a few of your own too if you can find some I missed off the top of my head.

Good luck with it... but expect a long road... first you need a good script... but even more than that right now, you need a good salesman... someone who can really sell the film as a money-making product... especially if/when you approach the studio's.

Good luck & let us know how it goes!

Most cities have a monthly networking meeting of all the executives and owners of companys at the chamber of commerce. That is a excellent place to find a lot of people with money and the need to be involved in something meaningful. Most rich people like having their names in the credits on films. I would suggest starting out in a medium sized city (say 10-30k population) so you can cut your teeth on the executives and they arent as standoffish. Then once you know your pitch and are comfortable around those types of people, then go to the larger cities and see what you can dig up.

Yes, a salesperson!

Yes, a salesperson!

Boy Derek, are you right! You need a good sales person. I used to be a Producer...then I became a foreign sales agent for five years and wished I had started there to begin with! Knowing how to sell to, and talk to buyers is an invaluable skill.
