Which HD camera to buy?

What im looking for is an HD low light camera that can emulate
film look. Is this possible with $600 to $800 ??
What are some model #,s i should look at ?
Im a newbie to video, but have played music & recorded for 20
years... Thanks !!

No HD cam does low light very well, period. As for getting a "film look", it's not just the camera, because a digital camera by itself won't give you any magic "film look" right out of the box, it's lighting, camera settings, and grading in post.

The only hd Cameras ive seen around that seem pretty promising from MaximumPC's round up of Consumer HD Cameras are:

The Canon HV-20

And the Panasonic HDC-SX5

Search around for the best price and ull probably find something in ur price range

Im not sure which one is better in low light though

I have a Canon HV20 and its a good camera. It has a lot of the features of larger cameras and the image quality is really good.
