i have read some stuff on cards for video editing and I am curious why the card designed for gaming do not get much attention.

Consumer display cards don't have the Open GL processing strength of "Pro" cards typically...also Pro cards (for instance the NVIDIA Quadro series cards as opposed to the consumer GeForce series) will typically have a much higher polygon count and support for many more clipping planes, which are how many windows you can have open at one time and hold the detail in memory, as opposed to having to always refresh the window underneath when you change window focus.
