What kind of video card is needed?

Hi,

We're going to be setting up a machine (P4 2.53 GHz with 2 gigs of RAM) to do some editing. We want to be able to use a setup with 2 monitors (possibly one a TV?). Does anyone know what kind of video card we'd need for this? The computer currently has a GF4 420 MX with TV-out, but does that support 2 monitors? Also, any comments on the specs we have with that computer for editing?

Thanks,
Cindy

Yes, your card should support dual monitors using the TV as a secondary monitor.

Before we can really help you out though, we need to know more about your editing needs. For instance, in order to suggest/comment on your hardware, we need to know what the software you will be running is?

G-Force & Radeon are among the best cards out there, but there are many to choose from.

Basically, regardless what you edit with, you'll want as much processing power, RAM & Video card RAM as possible!

256mb video cards are a good place to start.

Anyhow, best of luck building your system!
