Synching Double System Rushes in Final Cut Express

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone can walk me through the steps of synching double system rushes on Final Cut Express.The picture was shot on 16mm, transferred to Mini Dv and captured. The sound was recorded on 1/4" tape and captured. During shooting a slate or clapperboard, was used to ID and synchronize sound and picture. So, I have picture files and audio files, what next. Many thanks for any help

Not sure about Final Cut, but in general you find the 'clap' on the audio and the 'clap' frame on the video and just align them in the timeline. The clap on the audio should be pretty obvious if you look at the waveform, on the video it should be the first frame where the clapper is closed (though sometimes I've had to slip a frame either way to get the best synch).
