If you search around, there are some DIY squib-like stuff you can do.
Essentially, you take a piece of foam, put it in the end of a rubber tube, fill the tube with blood and have either someone blow into the other end or and some sort of compressed air. This makes the foam shoot out as well as blood spurt out. Really simple and easy to use.
