Squibs

I want to buy some squibs, but the few places that sell them (all over the internet; all out of state) say I need an explosives or firework permit to get them. I tried finding out how to go about getting certified but no one can tell me exactly. I can always use compressed air instead but it doesn't really look the same. Does anyone have any experience with squibs that can offer any advice.

Its been discussed here some before, the short answer:

Get a professional for help or don't do it at all, its dangerous and thus there is a reason for needing a pyro license to buy the items.

It varies by state, but to get a license is very long process that involves years of working under someone.
