I have a Vx-2100's and a PD-170 that has blown micro-fuse.... short of sending it in to sony for repair, does anyone know anything about the location and replacement of said micro fuse? The Vx2100 and PD-170 are basically the same camera, the 170 has more eng stle features with two xlr inputs.....

You're saying that after you locate this 'blown micro-fuse', which you've assessed and confirmed 100% as the only problem, you'd rather fix it yourself than send it in and have it fixed by a professional?
Hmmmmmmm....

Is the camera still under warranty?

If not, I still feel the cost of sending in the camera and having a micro-fuse replaced by a professional engineer is highly justified when the only alternative you’ve given yourself is cracking open the camera with your bare hands and possibly damaging the entire unit permanently.

I really can't endorse this kind of a move, as it puts the camera, and yourself at high risk for further damage.

I'm actually sending them to the Plano Service Center and the 170 to the Jersey one, but I figured I'd give this a shot, I'm very tech-swavy and I think I could maybe fix them given the parts and tools... and know how...

At any rate, I only had a 90 day labor... Parts one year, they are nearly 2 years old... I was one of the first to the get those new models at the Government Video Expo in '03....

Sony's fee isnt that bad considering..... just don't use the bescor 12v supply with them......
