Sony HDV VTR Problems

I believe I have a problem with this machine. I shot some footage then reviewed it on my sony monitor. I shot the footage on GL2 Canon. When I reviewed the footage, the audio was bad (at times you hear something other times you dont) the footage it self jumped a bit. This caused problems during capturing on FCP.

The camera is not the problem. Checked that already
The vtr is. I cleaned the heads with a sony dv cleaner...did not respond. I checked the settings..all seems to be in order....I think.

Has anyone had a problem similar to mine if so..any suggestions.

If you don't have your settings right in FCP and try to import, it will not be right and you will encounter problems. Aside from that, unless you were using a high quality external microphone, the audio will most likely not be very good from just the GL2. Also the, GL2 only records basic SD miniDV, not HDV. Hope this helps.
