Smoke and mist plugins?

I`m looking for some really customizable smoke/mist filters where i can choose what parts of the screen get covered and others don`t etc. By smoke I don`t mean fire smoke, just more light and wispy, maybe blooming a bit.

I use the Trapcode Particular for that task. It's not free, but it really does the job...
