Question on capturing.

I have a Sony Hi-8 video camera and im trying to upload it through a Pinnacle Dazzle DVC 80 using a Video in and Audio in.

When I finish capturing and go to look at the sound its always off by seconds not a long time lag but it lags and is annoying as hell and isnt professional. Is it becaause im doing everything through a usb and it uploads it choppy or are my settings wrong in Pinnacle Studio.
