i am writing a script for a short film and hope to sell it to a local production company. it would be great if i could direct it too, but just selling it would good enough.
so my question is this: does anybody know of any small production companies in the Kansas City area? are there any good ones?

i don't have a problem with doing that, and i've done that in the past. the only thing, i don't think i have the resources to shoot it. i don't have much money at all and i don't really know any actors, which kind of leaves me with not many options.

There are actors, they're called friends and family. They don't have to be pros. If you look around the boards here somewhere, there is some advice on how to direct non-actors. And as for locations, work on it man work on it.

Yeah but I know what Maestro means. If the actors he uses are friends and family and he's making a film and wants everyone to take it serious then he doesn't want a group of people thats not gonna take it serious. Its o.k. to have fun but people have to take it serious.

P.S.
Maestro hang in there.

Hey maestro,

What's the budget on this short film? I'd consider purchasing it if it's a keeper and within my range.

well, i haven't finished writing it yet, but it wouldn't be very expensive. i gotta admit, i'm new to filmmaking and i've never really had to figure out the budget on a script. i probably should also mention that i'm 15 years old. but that's awesome! thank you!

Alright, send me a PM whenever you'd like me to have a look at it.

I couldn't give you money, but if you'd like I wouldn't mind reading it and trying to shoot it myself if the other guy doesn't work out. just p.m. me and let me know. If I were to film this I would keep in contact with and i'd give you writing credit and probably a youtube post if you'd like.
