Panasonic AG-DVC30

hey everyone, im interested in the panasonic agdvc30. But the problem i keep running into , is the price. I live in NY and i know that B&H is the place to go for professional video ,but they rip people off. i was wondering if anyone knew any legitimate websites that offer this camera at a reasonable price. thanks..

I own the AG-DVC30. I love it by the way. As for the camera, I got mine off of Willoughby's in NY. I looked for it cheap too, and there is just really very little way around the price. Trust me. Don't go with the gray market cameras, you will run in to more problems than I care to list here. If the price seems too good to be true, it probobly is. Don't get it off of ebay or an auction site. BH maybe sort of expensive, but if you're shelling out 1600 dollars, there is nothing more reliable, and I love reliability. Just remember to play it safe, I nearly got ripped off.

i read your post and was wondering if you bought it? what are your thoughts? is it a good student camera?

It is an excellent student camera as far as I can see. Its got enough depth and professional qualities for constant learning, and yet is easy enough for nearly anyone to operate (once you read the manual). The image quality is superb, as is its size. the on-camera mic sucks however. I have had no trouble with it. The battery life is fairly long, and all together its just excellent for its price. For those of us who can't afford the DVX series... or XL series.

thx for the info. i have read that the mic is not good as well. i figured i would need an external mic to go with it.
