With enough soft light... this could be accomplished... but this is a very tricky and difficult task.
I would suggest perhaps a chimera... and probably a few scrims as well... on each light...
be sure to put fewer scrims on your key light... also, make sure that your subject is much "hotter" than your background.
As well... you'll want to get some good make-up on the subject as well... some skin lightening make-up will go a long way toward lightening the skin for the camera... and some powder will cut out the glare of the lights shining off of them.
If you accomplish this properly... your subject's skin should lighten up a bit.
Hopefully some more experienced lighting experts will comment on this soon.
Dress them in darker clothes, put them against a darker background, then overexpose the shot so that the face looks brighter but now the clothing and background look normal. Or put an overexposed spotlight just on the face.
