<p>The Pan Pacific Film Festival is scheduled to launch on August 6th-8th, festival
organizers have announced, unveiling a new lineup of jurors as well as dozens
of top Hollywood filmmakers and executives who will speak on the art of filmmaking
during a half dozen workshops. </p>
<p>Launched in 2008 by Korean-American businessman Ken An, the festival is known
for highlighting films that are both inspiring and entertaining and will feature
short and long form documentaries and narrative films.</p>
<p>The festival will boast an impressive lineup of major Hollywood talent who
will participate in workshops that will cover topics like producing, directing,
marketing, casting, new media, music, education and others. Panelists will include
Howard Kazanjian (Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Raiders of the Lost Ark), Cale
Boyter (Elf, The Spongebob Movie, Wedding Crashers), Howard Klausner (Space
Cowboys, Reagan), Chris Lockhart (WME), Will Wallace (Tree of Life) Jon Erwin
(Mom's Night Out,) John Sullivan (America: Imagine the World Without Her, Mark
Joseph (Reagan, Tolkien & Lewis), Justin Chang (Variety’s chief film
critic), and many others.</p>
<p>In addition to screening all nominated films during the daytime, the festival
will also highlight two upcoming films; Frank vs. God and Return to the Hiding
Place. Sunday evening, August 9th, the general public is invited to screen the
Korean film The Tenor, Lirico Spinto, a touching story of a talented musician
who looses his singing voice at the peak of his career due to thyroid cancer
and the fight to regain it.</p>
<p>Jurors for the prestigious festival include Justin Chang, world renowned artist
Makoto Fujimura, who served as Presidential appointee to the National Council
on the Arts and the Pulitzer Prize winning political cartoonist Michael Ramirez
among others.</p>
<p>"We have received more top quality films from around the world than any
other year," said An, CEO of the festival. "We look forward to a great
weekend of movies."</p>
<p>The festival will include a red carpet, musical performances, a VIP dinner
and screenings of all nominated films and will take place in the Los Angeles
area suburb of Fullerton. Discounted tickets are available for students.</p>
