NEED HELP! Final Cut Pro 4 not recognizing external device!

I own a G5. I recently updated my operating system to 10.3.9, and since then I haven't been able to import any video footage into Final Cut. I've gone over my A/V pre-sets and capture settings but still no luck. I'm using "Apple Fire Wire 720x480" and I switched momentarily to "Apple Fire Wire Basic" but that still didn't help. When I open Final Cut 4 and look on the VIEW drop down menu, "external monitor, single view, and all frames", they are all grayed out. Plus, the moment I select "log and capture", Final Cut shuts down. The mini-DV deck I'm using is a "SONY GV-D1000." Does anyone have a solution to this? I'd really appreciate any suggestions. :?

What version of final cut are you using? And were you able to capture with the GV-D1000 before your system upgrade?

I am running Final Cut Pro 4.0.1. Before my upgrade to 10.3.9, I had no problem importing footage on the Sony mini DV deck.
