My son is hoping to go to school for film eventually. I would like to surprise him at Christmas with a good, but simple camera to get him started. My budget is laughably low, so I need to know what I should be looking for in a video camera. I'm thinking that a "flip" video camera is not something he could use to build an early portfolio to get into a college film school. Any help, any advice would be so appreciated.
