Hello guys i have a question about a low-budget way of making a camera stablizer. If any of you have seen Boogie Nights or Pulp Fiction you would notice that their is long cuts in which the camera usualy follows a character or goes through a crowd without the camera moving all over the place. In my new short im going to be using this technique to follow a character throughout a house. I would like to know if anyone has any low-budget suggestions on how i could possibly do this.

thanks

there are many ways to make homemade stabilizers. I would do a google search for home built stabilizers, or DIY Steadicams. you'll be sure to turn up a few good ideas.

i built my own steadicam for pretty cheap using this website:

used parts from a local hardware store, ended up costing me around $25-30, buying extra parts for extensions and whatnot, and took less than 30 min to put together. worked pretty well for me. tracking shots up and down stairs turned out smooth, albeit with a few side to side shakes from lack of experience. the steadicam 'look' is mostly in your technique, so just make time to practice.
