Hello,
I'm studying film in Baltimore and interning at a local advertising agency. I've introduced myself around and have gotten to know many people and made many positive impressions, but my hopes to be a camera assistant don't seem viable. There are two major players in the area who do 2nd unit work for Hollywood films who get almost all the assistant gigs in Maryland and DC. They're both great guys, but tell me I'd best be moving to LA or New York where there are more jobs. It seems to me it's difficult enough to get your name around, should I really uproot myself and move someplace where I know nobody? Or is it possible to stick around with people I've established myself?
It was pure luck I got my internship, I'm not sure I want to count on that kind of luck coming around again.
