Hi, my name is katie diiro and I am graduating from school in May as a film studies: production major. I am moving to Los Angeles in August and would LOVE to know a few things about becoming a camera operator eventually in my life. I have the passion and drive and I have been known to work hard and get the job done. When I get to LA what is my best move. I need a job to pay for rent- but what can I expect to make at an entry level position. How often will I get work? When can I expect to join a union? Should I join a union? Will I be able to pay rent? What city is best to live in? How do I move up on the ladder?
I realize that answering these is not simple, but I guess me moving from Fargo, North Dakota to Los Angeles isn't going to be easy either.
