Shot on the SRII this weekend. Composed for 1.66 (S16 ratio) transferring to HD 1.78.

I assume this is correct because I read up on it and the lab reccomended I do that. But what I'm confused with is do they just blow up the image to 1.78?

The ground glass has 4x3, 1.66, and 1.85 markings. What makes no sense is 1.85 is 35 but thats what I was told the outer lines was. It may be 1.78 but still a marking that S16 wont record since its 1.66 native.

So basically my concern is I used the 1.66 lines, at times some unwanted objects (wires =( ) may have popped into the 1.85 mark, never the 1.66 (I want to say they never were in the 1.85 marking but I'm not 100%).

Basically since I'm going 1.78 is it going to add that extra more, showing unwanted parts of the frame. But since the film only records 1.66 there is no possible way its going to bring something in that it doesn't record? But then why have that 1.85 mark?

LOL I'm confused.

Frame lines

16 mm is still a little wider than 1.66. All that refers to is the dimensions of the groundglass. Your ground glass is just a guide to help you be consistent in framing. In your telecine you can actually move the frame around before he crops it to what you prefer. You can shoot 1.85 on s16 if you wanted, however it is just going to lower the height to make the length proportional to 1.85. So hopefully the things that fell in to frame were outside of the 1.78 lines, but the frame can be moved in the telecine if it is a disraction like the boom.

Good luck
