I posted this a couple of days ago but I think I'm going to have to get more specific. I am currenlty working on a screenplay that tells the story of the Patterson Film, the famous clip of a walking Bigfoot in Bluff Creek California. My screenplay will tell the story of the events leading up, during and the aftermath of the film which I have pretty much laid out in outline. My premise is not to prove or disprove existance but to offer the facts as I have researched them and to let the audience decide. My main focus of the film is to show Patterson's obsession with the creature and what lengths he may or may not have gone too. Again, up to the audience to decide.
The film timeline occurs from 1958 to 1972, when Patterson passes away. However, the major part of the film occurs from 1964 to 1972 when Roger Patterson obsessesion peaks and he decides to write a book, double his field research, film a documentary and try to catch one on film. Many people know the 30 sec movie, which by the way has never been totaly proven authentic but has never totaly been proven a hoax as well, but most don't know the story of what went on prior, during or after the film as made. While only a handful of events, albeit very important ones, occur from 1958 to 1964, I'm finding difficult to bridge the gaps of time to get to 1964 and the meat of the story. The major events early in the story are 1) In 1958, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin meet (Gimlin was the other person with him that day) and become friends while performing in a local rodeos. Gimlin often rode horsreback with Patterson into the mountains during his field research, 2) In Christmas of 1959, Patterson reads an article in a magazine about 'Abominable Snowmen in America' that piques his interest but he doesn't do much about it, just asking a few people around his home in Yakima, Wa and reading other matieral and 3) he learns he has Hodgkins Disease in 1961.
I don't know how to bridge those large gaps of time to get from 1958 to 1964 but I have to tell those events because they set up alot of what occurs afterwards. Please help with suggestions!!
Thank you
Don
