Help! Question about projection..

I have two 100ft 16mm films. I just bought a projector, but it came with no take up reels. Would it hurt to play the film without a take up reel, and just let it fold out on the floor and be rewinded? Would this be a problem, or would it work since the film is so short?

I wouldn't do that. You could easily damage the film that way.

if you are VERY careful about it, the film will survive. I am a projectionist at a movie theater, we have had take up platters break before and wound up with entire movies on the floor of the booth. Just be extra careful and spread it out as much as possible. This is a worst-case scenario, though. If it is at all possible, get a replacement take-up reel, or a new projector
