In 2008 completed my thesis M.A degree on a journalist by the name of Fay M. Jackson. She was one of the first African American female foreign correspondents and she started the first Black news weekly on the West Coast that helped served as a record of the Harlem Renaissance of the West. When I began my thesis, I did so by recording my interviews with various individuals about my thesis topic. Since receiving my M.A I have continued to do research on Fay and would like to turn my footage into a documentary. I am still in the process of interviewing a few individuals and travel is becoming costly.
2nd. Where can I apply for grants to help with production with this being my first project? I have looked at a few organizations and it appears that so many org. want to see samples of previous work--what about those who this is their first project?
