hello room

hope to learn alot from all of you. i understand that the critism and comments will only help to toughen my skin while pointing me in the right direction. i view this as one would joining a fraternity and look for the guidance that my brothers and sisters in this game offer. i must admit my ignorance is only mask in the naive of not knowing. but i hope to change that. peace

Then welcome to the faternaty. As first order of business, RUSH will be administered.

To all new members of the Studentfilmmakers.com guild, you must post atleast one work which you have done in the past.

after then, you must drink large amounts of punch, spiked with none other but whisky.

Once you are done throwing up the punch, you will be ready for the next task, creating a short film. and so on and so on.

But seriously welcome, if you got any question post them and I'm sure someone here will be more then willing to answer. As to the level of knowledge everyone has about cinema, we will see with the responces... YAY SCHOOOL!

GL, and welcome once again..

yes I said it 3 times, so sue me.

I am new here

Hi studentfilmmakers participants,

I am glad that I have found this forum here. I am a German and live in west-Germany and I have a lot of friends in the USA. My username is also my real name, Michael. I have never done a film project and never wrote a screenplay. But writing a screenplay has always been my keen desire. And of course, I want to focus on writing screenplays in English language because as far I know, Hollywood is ruling the worldwide film industry. Two years ago I purchased a book entitled "Screenplay: The Foundations of Screenwriting" written by Syd Field. Yesterday I have ordered the latest issue (2005) of that title. So, of course I do know a little bit of how to formate a screenplay to the industry standard. But anyway, and here comes my first question. There a some screenwriting software offered by different branches. Does it make sense to work with that software and if yes, can you recommend a software regardless if it is a free version or not? For example the software “Hollywood Screenwriter” from www.media-services.com or "Sophocles" puplished by www.sophocles.net but I have no clue.

I'm using Final Draft 7, but unfortunately it's not a freeware. The website allows you to download the trial which limited you to save up to 9 pages the most. So that will works if you just wanna write a short script.
