i am writing to ask your advice on how you might approach this project. i have done a large amount of documentary photography of historic buildings and bridges during my career for a variety of archival organizations. one of my upcoming projects will be to document a number of large metropolitan street scenes to illustrate the relationship of buildings to the adjacent pedestrian and transportation systems. the lens sytem will need to be wide enough to capture some very tall skyscrapers, and maintaining at least reasonable perspective on the tall buildings to minimize keystoning from lots of tilting.
i am considering either 1) timelapse photography using a high end DSLR to allow fast-frame movement down a street corridor, while also allowing high res single image detail viewing of any individual image, OR 2) moving to a HD video capture system and just provide video documentation. some voice-over audio may be added during post to either the timelapse sequencing or the video.
so, how would you recommend approaching this project? if you suggest video, which HD camcorder would you recommend? i think a 3-ccd 1/3" sensor system would be a minimal requirement, and i would prefer recording to a large hard drive rather than miniDV tape, if poss. thanks for any suggestions.
