About to travel to througout Europe for four months and want to make a documentary, but on a very big budget. What is the cheapest camera to buy that will get the job right. What am I looking at for a camera, audio, and possibly lighting? Can anyone help. Girl with a dream.

Your title says "On a budget", your post says "Big budget".

If you have the "big" budget you would be better off renting the gear when you get there to avoid shipping (airlines are now charging by the pound for most everything except carry-ons) and customs. The gear you rent will be compatible with European electrical standards.

On either budget you need to define the focus of your doc and your shooting style. Are you doing mostly interviews? Lots of outdoor work? Run and gun? The list goes on, but these things will determine your specific equipment needs. Don't forget about sound. Capturing great location sound is even more imperative for docs than with narrative work as you MUST live with what you record on location.
