The largest film festival for emerging directors, NFFTY (National Film Festival for Talented Youth), is accepting entries for its upcoming 2016 festival taking place April 28 – May 1 in Seattle, WA. NFFTY 2016 will mark the organization’s 10th Anniversary Festival, and is looking for some of the best films from around the world form filmmakers age 24 and under.

Over the last decade, NFFTY has supported over 2,000 emerging filmmakers – many having gone on to make great contributions in the global filmmaking community. NFFTY provides a one of a kind first class venue for the world’s best young directors to come together for four days of films, networking events, panels and parties. NFFTY 2015 featured 248 awe-inspiring films that represented 30 states and 25 countries with attendance surpassing 12,000. Last year an astonishing 48% of NFFTY films were directed by young women in comparison to Hollywood where only 9% of films are female directed.

Submission Deadlines + Entry Fees – Online Application and Film Received By:

  • Early Deadline: October 31 – $25
  • Mid Deadline: November 30 – $30
  • Regular Deadline: January 4 – $40
  • Late Deadline: January 15 – $45
  • Final Deadline: January 30 – $50

Categories:

  • All films (national and international) may be submitted into only one category:
  • Feature – any narrative film over 30 minutes in length.
  • Short – any narrative short film under 30 minutes.
  • Documentary – documentary of any length.
  • Music Video – music video of any length.
  • Animation – any form of animation, any length.
  • Experimental – any length film that does not fit the mold of typical filmmaking.
  • Note: Public Service Announcements, Commercials and film trailers are not eligible for consideration in any category.
