Audio Output dies after video capture

howdy folks.

so here is my problem

I would sit down to work on a project
starting off with some simple video capture.

now the problem

The audio dies.

When i use the mouse to scroll around a clip it will squak here and there
so there's definitely sound
but then
when i preview/render

no sound...

is this a problem with the software or my sound card?
