Okay,
I didn't see how this question could fit into another forum but since I spend so much time in this one I figured I would post it here. I am a business major at the University of New Hampshire and would like my career to lean towards marketing in the film industry. Does anyone know of any master's degree programs that I should be looking for in this field? I'm not even sure if they exist but I'm sure someone in this forum could point me in the right direction. Would it be better to stick with my bachelor's in Business ADMN-Marketing and do a film school or is there a marketing for film program I should be looking at? Thanks again so much for all of your time in replying.

Honestly I haven't a clue.

I wouldn't think that there would be a special major for film marketing... but you might look into schools like USC that have a recognizable film major to see if they've got any specialized marketing classes...

If you can't find anything there, then my bet would be that any type of marketing degree (or perhaps a commercial marketing degree) would work perfectly.

Frankly... I would say that 'marketing is marketing' because you're just marketing to people... every market consists of one or more sets of demographics... and marketing a film is no different than marketing a shampoo product... at least when you look at the basic approach to the problem. In the end all marketing really is, is selling product A to consumer B... where A can be any product in the world, and B can change based on the product.

Great to see that there are people on here who are interested in marketing for film!

Take care.
