Three cinematographers have notched their first ASC Award nominations in the feature-film category this year: Barry Ackroyd, BSC, for The Hurt Locker; Christian Berger, AAC, for The White Ribbon; and Mauro Fiore, ASC, for Avatar.
The other two nominees, Dion Beebe, ASC, ACS, for Nine, and Robert Richardson, ASC, for Inglourious Basterds, are familiar faces at the Society’s awards ceremony. Beebe was nominated for Collateral and Memoirs of a Geisha, winning for the latter, and Richardson was nominated for Born on the Fourth of July, JFK, A Few Good Men, Heaven and Earth, The Horse Whisperer, Snow Falling on Cedars, The Aviator and The Good Shepherd
