any feature films being shot in high def?

On the camera front, things are changing rapidly. It will be interesting to see whatever the RED guys come up with...the scuttlebutt is that the mysterium sensor is now functioning. My attention is currently on the Silicon Imaging camera which shoots direct to disk in RAW. The Viper is great...

    ZOMBIE EYES

I think it's been done practically in the grand days of the 16mm B-budgeted horror flick, hasn't it? In AE, you could cover the pupils with a white circle and with a mask and blend mode (multiply), you could get it to work, provided you enjoy some serious motion-tracking render times.

    Can you crop?

You'd get the best image quality from doing a "zoom" in After Effects in my opinion. AE does a nicer job with scaling as you'll need to scale the image up to get rid of that outer edge...

1000 $ for Editing system that runs wit premiere pro

A whole system for 1000 USD? Does that include the PC? For that price, you should focus on getting the most computer possible. Once you buy the Matrox board, you don't have much left.

This is driving me nuts (i see this in other peoples films)

...of course, de-interlacing would get rid of the lines, but would have that "frame" cadence to it as opposed to the video look...

This is driving me nuts (i see this in other peoples films)

How are you processing it on the way out? DV's field dominance is lower field...it almost looks like it was exported with the wrong field dominance from here. Can you be a little more specific on this frame's origin? Is it off the PPro timeline or from an clip exported from the timeline?

pp1.5 videos lose quality when exporting

DV is DV...it is both a video format and a compression type. It shouldn't be doing all that much to the text from the perspective of all but the most unforgiving eyes, really. I think you need to spool it out to tape and see what the tape looks like. When you play back DV on the desktop...

    HD to FCP

I think I'd point you toward the Panasonic 1200 deck and using DVC ProHD for FCP. HDcam has no FireWire functionality and isn't native for FCP. "Consumer" HD...HDV is more compressed than HDcam or DVC ProHD and will (in my experience) appear "noisy" as the aggressive compression can have some...

Premiere Pro 2.0 Highly Unstable Please Help!!!

Did you completely uninstall Pro 1.5 before installing 2? I wonder if there is a weird file conflict in there... Also...check your scratch disk assignments in Edit>Preferences>Scratch disks and ensure they aren't aimed at disks with no space available, or that don't exist, etc...

muzzle flashes in ae. your feedback please!!!

My thought would be to add some "not flash" and obvious varied brightness in increments in there...I think the shape and all that is fine...and the subtle light throw onto the pallets is nice...there just isn't much crisp bullet staccato... That's all...just a touch more "spraying lead" and a...

Premiere Pro 2.0 Highly Unstable Please Help!!!

Are your system specs up to the requirements of PPro 2? Describe your system in a bit more detail please.

pp1.5 videos lose quality when exporting

You aren't exporting with any settings like recompress selected (or a PAL timeline exported to NTSC...etc)? Also...what are you viewing the video on to make this determination?

    HD to FCP

So, I take it that acquisition format is flexible? Of course, if you shot HDcam and rented a Panasonic DVC ProHD deck, that wouldn't work...you would need to shoot DVC ProHD.

migrating from ppro 1 to ppro 2 in mid project..issues?

Hi Mark, No, I doubt you'd have any issues with the project update unless you have third party effects involved that haven't been updated for PPro 2 yet...that sort of thing. Scratch disks...not as big a deal as it was 5 years ago...disk drives are much faster now. If you notice unusual slow...

Can't import .avi movie files made with Fuji stills camera

The files are most likely MPEG-4 and while the playback codec probably exists on your computer, PPro may not be able to access it properly. Can you load it in one of the consumer packages you mention and export it as an AVI file with, say DV compression?

    APP AE help

If you shot HDV...CineForm's Aspect HD plugin is the only way to handle that camera's footage in 24p mode inside PPro. You may also want to post on the Premiere forum at creativecow.net

    Premiere 2.0 HDV editing

Look again in the project presets...there are HDV native project settings included. Sorry about the delay...the site hasn't been notifying me of posts.

    Editing on a LAPTOP

The processor alone doesn't determine this... If you are referring to editing DV, the processor should be fine, but you also want it loaded with RAM and you would need a 7200rpm internal drive to get DV playback without framedrops...also when previewing an unrendered effect, you may not make...

premiere 6.5 (on NT) and Prem. Pro 1.5 on XP compatibile?

"Expert" is probably a stretch...but I've got some time and production with AE under my belt, yes.

premiere 6.5 (on NT) and Prem. Pro 1.5 on XP compatibile?

You can upgrade, but not go back. The Premiere 6.5 project will load in PPro 1.5, but the resulting PPro project will not load into Premiere 6.5.
