Just got a new Canon XL2 and love it.
I am looking at adding a new HD video cam to the stable and dont want to break the bank.
Anyone had any experience with one of these little creatures??
I used the XL2 yesterday for a run and gun gig chasing some Geocachers around for a while.
I set the...
You should be able to firewire your video right into the computer and edit it fine in Vegas.
If you are just going to put it on the net then your are probably going to render it to 128Kpbs in an wmv file.
Quality in this format is crap and any display over 4-5 inches will be horribly...
I use vegas 5.0 to edit with and have always had great success.
Recently I have had an issue pop up that caused me great alarm.
I have mostly done promotional videos that were just basic stuff that was for advertising.
Recently I did my first (YES Number 1) Wedding. and during post...
Im would agree.
The tapes are so easy to use and store.
The tapes can be bought at almost any grocery store (Practically):D
If you have particularly sensitive footage, burn it to DVD for safer storage or you can store it on a huge USB hard drive for later use.

I am using Vegas video 5.0
Any of the newer Vegas versions are great.
I got the full version of 5 handed to me with the aquisition of a nice computer and a Sony Handycam that I still use to transfer my Hi8 video from the V5000 and L1 machines.
Versions 6, 7 and 8 have more tools and goodies...
HMMMMM
This sounds all to familiar. I am a 56 YO lady and have done all sorts of things. I have worked as a machinist in a large factory, a mechanic working on cars and trucks, driven big rigs for a living, currently own a gunshop and jewelry store.
I got into video production about 4 years ago...
Well I have been using two Sony V5000's and a Cannon L1 for the past 3 years to do my work.
The old Hi8 V5000's are doing a great job and still sluggin it out with the best of them but it was time to add a new unit to the tool box.
Yesterday I had some good fortune and made a deal that allowed...
Howdy
Your link did not take me to anything specific. (Just Curry's page)
A hard drive camera is probably not a bad way to go.
I am old school and prefer tape still to some of the other mediums.
The new Chip cameras Have my attention but the new Codec (AVCHD) will not allow the use of most...
Well things are progressing
I landed some work doing some promotional work for a couple bands.
OMG trying to get good video in a poorly lit night club is the pits but the Old Sony V5000 came through for me.
I also had my Cannon L1 in the slugging it out too and got some usable footage.
The...
Doing pretty good.
Just trying to get a small production house up and running.
56 YO now and been a commercial trucker for the last 18 years and tired of it.
I have my editing room pretty well set up now and can turn out some fair stuff.
Looking for small jobs to start and then on to upgrade...
I do Hi8 all the time and use a couple of the Sony Digital 8 handy cams as my playback and transfer decks.
The one I use most is a DCR-TRV240 and it has firewire and will load your Hi8 right into the computer as first gen digital with no loss.
Using the analog transfer will lose some of the...
Im am currently running some vintage equipment with a pair of mid 90's Sony CCD-V5000 units.
Always looking to get the best from these old girls until I can afford to upgrade to something a little newer.
If anyone has any experience I would love to hear from you.

I have been using Vegas for a few years now.
I have not used 8 as yet but recently got to mess with 7
I personally have not used up all the goodies that can be done with 5.0
What are you looking to do???
