Writing A Good Motive and Scene for The Bad Guy?

All along my screenplay in Act 1 and 2 we get small little parts with the bad guy. By the end of Act II we learn the what the bad guy is really capable of doing. He rapes and murders the main characters love interest. But I guess you say the reset button is hit and the main character has a chance to stop the murder and rape from happening all over again. There is a scene with all the main characters in a confined space. They catch the bad guy right when he is in the middle of something terrible. Forcing confrontation with everyone. This is the moment I am struggling with writing because even though he actions are bad. I still need to find a way to make the audience understand the way he is and his point of view in the matter.

Writing this scene, I want to be powerful but I get writers block everytime I get closer to writing this scene. Anyone have any ideas on how I can make the audience understand his motives. It is kind of hard to write that but I want this scene to be one of the strongest scenes??

At what point did you say we see him commit these crimes? You would usually want to start off the film with him committing a crime then the hunt is on...the chance to reset and stop him is the central question the audience will be asking. Then the main character/hero/protagonist can research this person to profile them before they commit the crime. Let me know if I'm off track on the story. We might need more details.

We find out the bad guys motive at the end of act 2. There is a huge wedding scene where a lot of the questions get answers but then it brings a new storyline in place as we learn about what the bad guy actions. In the final act, in act 3 the good guy "wakes up" to what he thinks is a weird dream till events start happening like in act 2. First he thinks everything is a dream till things he relived before start happening again. Like he has gone back in time in a way to stop the bad events from happening. He gets there just in time while the bad guy is in the process of comitting his crimes again. It then forces all the main characters in one room where a lot of them are seeing this bad version of the bad guy for the first time where the good guy had visions of it and know what he is really capable of doing. Problem is I don't know how to make the audience relate to his motives or see why he has done what he has done?
