What is the difference between an artistic photograph and a snapshot?

Now this is quite a debate. It is hard to mark the difference between them because there is little theory to support it.
In my humble opinion, a snapshot is an image that is taken spontaneously, usually by using a smartphone, while a photograph is a picture that is taken using an actual camera.

Aren't snapshots photos as well? Now I am wondering as well what is the difference..........

What a lovely subject for a debate. A snapshot is an instant picture, for example the winner of a marathon at the Olympics. A photograph can be any kind of photo, really.
